Flying instruments / vertigo
Sometimes when pilots fly through clouds, they get the sensation that they are sitting at a tilt when in fact they are sitting straight up. When they look at their instrument panel, it shows that they are not leaning over but their feeling is still telling them they are.
There is a strong temptation when this disorientation or vertigo feeling sets in to turn the controls to adjust to compensate for the feeling. The problem with this is that the compensation is actually putting the plane into an angle will eventually take it right into the ground.
The pilot needs to learn how to trust the instruments and not trust the feeling or the results can be deadly. The same is true for us. The Bible is our ‘Instrument panel’. We sometimes ‘feel’ that we are flying right but we are really steering our life right toward disaster. “There is a way which seems right unto man but the end thereof is death.” (Proverbs 14:12 and 16:25)
The word of God is right even when our feelings are wrong.
